Packing Slip
A packing slip is a document placed inside a shipment that lists the items, quantities, and order number in the package, usually without prices, so the recipient can check the contents.
Why it matters for ecommerce brands
The packing slip is often the only printed piece a DTC customer receives, so many brands use it for return instructions and branding. Wrong or missing slips also slow down returns and wholesale receiving.
Common questions
- What is the difference between a packing slip and an invoice?
- A packing slip lists what is in the box and is used to check contents, while an invoice requests or records payment and shows prices. Many ecommerce brands print slips without prices, especially for gift orders.
