Appointment Delivery
Appointment Delivery is an accessorial service in which the carrier schedules a specific date or time window with the receiver before delivering, often billed as a notify, call-ahead, or appointment fee.
Why it matters for ecommerce brands
Retail DCs, Amazon fulfillment centers, and most 3PLs require a delivery appointment, so inbound freight without one can be refused or delayed. Missing the appointment can also trigger redelivery fees and retailer compliance fines.
Common questions
- What happens if an LTL carrier misses a delivery appointment?
- The receiver may refuse the load and the carrier must reschedule, which usually adds days and can add redelivery or storage charges. For retail orders, a missed appointment can also mean a late delivery against the purchase order and a compliance chargeback.
