Jeff Bezos
Jeff Bezos is an American entrepreneur who founded Amazon in 1994, building an online bookstore into the largest e-commerce and fulfillment network in the United States.
What they did and why it matters
Bezos made fast, predictable delivery a customer expectation, and that expectation now shapes every fulfillment operation. Amazon invested ahead of demand in fulfillment centers, opened its network to outside sellers through Marketplace and Fulfillment by Amazon, and used the Prime membership launched in 2005 to make two-day shipping the default promise. It later added robotics through the Kiva acquisition and its own carrier network. Independent brands and 3PLs now benchmark delivery promises, cutoff times, and shipping costs against what Amazon trained shoppers to expect.
