Dave Clark

Dave Clark is an American executive who spent 23 years at Amazon, leading its worldwide operations from 2013 and building its in-house delivery network before serving as CEO of Worldwide Consumer.

What they did and why it matters

Clark built the delivery network that made Amazon one of the largest parcel carriers in the United States, which is why brands now compare every carrier against Amazon's speed. He joined Amazon in 1999 after an MBA in logistics at the University of Tennessee and became senior vice president of worldwide operations in 2013. After carriers missed holiday deliveries that year, he accelerated Amazon's own network of sort centers, delivery stations, and contracted Delivery Service Partners, a program launched in 2018. He became CEO of Worldwide Consumer in 2021, left in 2022, and led Flexport until 2023. Shoppers' expectation of one-day and two-day delivery owes much to the network he assembled.
