Marc Lore
Marc Lore is an American entrepreneur who co-founded Quidsi, parent of Diapers.com, which Amazon bought, and Jet.com, which Walmart acquired in 2016 for $3.3 billion before he led Walmart's US e-commerce.
What they did and why it matters
Lore built businesses around the economics of shipping, and Jet.com in particular rewarded customers for orders that were cheaper to fulfill. Diapers.com built its business on shipping bulky, low-margin baby products quickly, and Jet.com lowered prices when shoppers bought more items together or waived free returns. After Walmart bought Jet in 2016, he led the push to build Walmart's online fulfillment and marketplace. The idea that basket size, packaging, and fulfillment location drive cost per order is central to how brands price shipping today.
