Perfect Order Rate
Perfect order rate is the share of orders delivered on time, complete, undamaged, and with correct documentation.
Why it matters for ecommerce brands
Perfect order rate shows how often an order goes right from the customer's point of view, so it is a stricter test than any single metric. Because the parts multiply, several good-looking scores can still add up to a mediocre result. Retail suppliers and 3PLs use it to find where orders fail. For example, 98% on time, 99% complete, 99% damage-free, and 99% correct documents give about 95% perfect orders. In a month of 20,000 orders, that is roughly 1,000 orders with at least one problem.
Formula and calculator
Perfect order rate = % on time × % complete × % damage-free × % correct documentation
Common questions
- Why is perfect order rate lower than each individual metric?
- Because an order must pass every check at once, the component rates multiply. For example, 98% on time, 99% complete, 99% damage-free, and 99% correct documentation combine to about 95% perfect orders.
- How do you calculate perfect order rate?
- Multiply the rates for on time, complete, damage-free, and correct documentation. 98% × 99% × 99% × 99% is about 95.1%.
- What is a good perfect order rate?
- There is no single standard, and definitions vary by company. Track it over time with the same components and fix the weakest one first, since it limits the total.
