Incoterms
Incoterms is standard trade terms published by the International Chamber of Commerce that define which party pays for and bears risk in each leg of an international shipment.
Why it matters for ecommerce brands
The Incoterm on a supplier quote changes your landed cost. FOB and EXW prices are not comparable without adjusting.
Common questions
- Which Incoterm should an ecommerce brand use when buying from overseas suppliers?
- Many brands use FOB or FCA so they control the main freight leg and choose their own forwarder. Use DDP only if you want the supplier to handle import clearance and duties, and confirm who acts as importer of record.
