USPS Delivering for America Plan
The USPS Delivering for America Plan is a 10-year strategic plan for the United States Postal Service, released on March 23, 2021, that slowed some mail standards, raised prices, and reorganized the network around package growth.
What happened and why it matters
Delivering for America reshaped USPS into a more package-focused carrier, and it explains many changes in postal rates, transit times, and products that shippers see today. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy released the plan on March 23, 2021. It lengthened the standard for some First-Class Mail from three days to up to five, a change that took effect on October 1, 2021, and called for regular price increases and new processing facilities. Later steps under the plan included consolidating parcel products and building regional processing centers. For ecommerce shippers, USPS remains a key lightweight option, but its pricing and transit times change often.
