What happened and why it matters
ChatGPT made generative AI practical for everyday business work, and logistics teams now use similar tools for customer messages, data cleanup, and analysis. OpenAI released it as a free research preview on November 30, 2022, and analysts estimated it had about 100 million monthly users by January 2023, faster growth than TikTok or Instagram. In fulfillment, large language models now draft replies to order status questions, summarize carrier exceptions, suggest product classifications, and help write integration code. The output still needs checking: an AI tool can propose an HTS code or a forecast, but people remain responsible for its accuracy.
