Tracking Number
A tracking number is a unique identifier a carrier assigns to a package that links every scan event, from acceptance to delivery, so shippers and recipients can follow its progress.
Why it matters for ecommerce brands
Tracking data drives shipping confirmation emails, branded tracking pages, and fewer 'where is my order' tickets. Marketplaces such as Amazon also measure sellers on uploading valid tracking on time.
Common questions
- Why does my tracking say label created but the package is not moving?
- It means the label exists but the carrier has not scanned the package yet. Common causes are a missed pickup, a package left off the manifest, or a first scan that only happens later at a sorting facility.
