Putaway
Putaway is the step of moving received goods from the dock to their storage location and recording that location in the WMS.
Why it matters for ecommerce brands
Until putaway is complete, inventory usually cannot be sold, so slow putaway causes avoidable stockouts.
Common questions
- What is the difference between receiving and putaway?
- Receiving is unloading and checking inbound goods against what was expected. Putaway is moving those goods to storage locations and recording where they are so they can be picked.
