Pick Face

Pick Face is the front, accessible storage location from which pickers take units for orders, such as a shelf bin or flow rack lane, as opposed to reserve or overstock storage.

Topic: Fulfillment & Warehousing Entry FUL-197

Why it matters for ecommerce brands

Fast movers should sit in pick faces close to packing to cut walking time. An empty pick face stops picking even when reserve stock exists, so replenishment must keep up.

Common questions

What is the difference between a pick face and reserve storage?
A pick face holds the units pickers take from directly, while reserve storage holds bulk backup stock, often on pallets in upper racking. Reserve stock is moved to the pick face during replenishment.
