Replenishment

Replenishment is the process of restoring inventory to target levels, either by ordering from suppliers or by moving stock from reserve storage or another warehouse into the locations where it sells or is picked.

Topic: Inventory Planning Entry INV-220

Why it matters for ecommerce brands

Late replenishment causes stockouts even when inventory exists elsewhere in the network. It is triggered by reorder points, min/max levels, or scheduled reviews.

Common questions

What is the difference between supplier replenishment and warehouse replenishment?
Supplier replenishment brings new stock into the business through purchase orders. Warehouse replenishment moves stock already on hand, for example from overstock pallets to forward pick locations, or from one fulfillment center to another.
