Shipping Zone
Shipping Zone is a carrier's measure of distance between the origin and destination ZIP codes. In the contiguous US, parcel zones run from 2 (closest) to 8 (farthest).
Why it matters for ecommerce brands
Higher zones mean higher rates and slower ground transit. A single coast-to-coast warehouse ships many orders at zones 7 and 8.
Common questions
- How do I find the shipping zone between two ZIP codes?
- Use the carrier's zone chart or zone lookup tool, entering the origin ZIP code (usually the first three digits) and the destination. Shipping platforms also display the zone on each label.
