Inner Pack

An inner pack is a smaller package inside a master carton that groups a set number of units, used to protect product or match the quantity a store or customer orders.

Why it matters for ecommerce brands

Inner packs let retailers order in smaller increments than a full case and let warehouses pick sub-case quantities without breaking open loose units. They should carry their own barcode if they are a sellable or orderable unit.

Common questions

Does an inner pack need its own barcode?
If the inner pack is ordered, stocked, or scanned as its own unit, give it a distinct GTIN and barcode so systems do not confuse it with the single unit or the master carton. If it is never handled separately, a barcode is usually not required.
